Reviews the book, The Greening of Psychoanalysis: Andre Green’s New Paradigm in Contemporary Theory and Practice by Rosine Jozef Perelberg and Gregorio Kohon. The Greening of Psychoanalysis (2017) is a collection of papers delivered at a scientific conference organized by the British Psychoanalytical Society in 2015. The conference was organized by the two editors of the book: Rosine Jozef Perelberg and Gregorio Kohon. Participants were invited to talk about the ways in which Green’s complex and thoughtful work has influenced their own thought and clinical practice. Since the conference occurred, only two years after Green’s death, the atmosphere at the conference was imbued with both a feeling of memorial to Green and a tribute to his contributions to psychoanalytic thought. Sadness and hope were intermixed, sadness because of the recent loss, hope because the ideas and work left to us by Green represent innovative and intriguing aspects of psychoanalytic thinking that (deliberately) have no point of closure or resolution; in that sense, Green’s thought is meant to be forever flourishing and renewed.
